Let's increase productivity!
Do you often find yourself at the end of the day and wonder where it went? Perhaps a bit disappointed because you did not accomplish the tasks you had planned? Would you like some tips to increase productivity and leave you feeling quite pleased with yourself at the end of the day?
I used to be quite good at staying busy all day, yet never accomplishing the things that really needed to be done in my business. Feeling the need to increase productivity, I have devised a short list that I think you will find helpful.
Set goals and plans – Setting goals is great, but without a plan, they are only dreams. So map out your plan on a calendar with all the tasks that you will need to complete. Have a to-do list for each day, week, and month, and check them off as you complete them, or continue them to another day if you need to.These will need to be updated regularly as you progress. At the end of the day, you should be able to look on your calendar and see how you did that day.
Focus – This seems super simple, but in this day and age, we are always tempted with distractions that take us away from our goals. If we are to increase productivity, we must focus on the task at hand and not get distracted. Social media, emails, texts, and phone calls can all drag us away from where we need to be. If you need to, close your Facebook tab, or mute your phone, and do it for until you have completed the task at hand.
Create routines – This is a great way to get yourself in the habit of doing what you need to do. We all know how difficult a bad habit can be to break, but a good habit is just as difficult. Create a routine each day and commit a portion of your day to increase productivity in your business.
Stay healthy – When we are healthy, our mind is able to function at its best, and it's the simple things that can make a huge difference. Here are some things to incorporate in your day:
- Eat healthy
- drink plenty of water
- take a break and stretch for 10 minutes every hour with nice deep breaths
- find time for play and laughter each day
- Spend time outside each day
- Sleep well
Learn/Do/Teach – This one took me awhile to learn, so I'd like to share it with you now so you can avoid the rut I got stuck in.
The internet is wonderful, it allows us to learn so much online, and that's great, but we really need to do something with that knowledge when we get it. It's really common for us to think we still need to learn more before we implement and share, that is incorrect as it keeps us stuck.
One thing we need to do is apply what we have learned, and apply it immediately. Not after we watch 100 more videos on the topic, or read another 10 books, but right now. You will continue to learn more as you are doing more of what you learned.
The last part of this tip is teaching what you've learned to others. When we teach to others, it helps reinforce what we have learned, and also puts us in a position of authority. Completing all three of these steps will help you increase productivity in your business.
Simple; right? 🙂
Be healthy, be happy.
