Whether you are just starting a new blog like I am, or have an existing blog, you will want to create a blog community with your readers. Let's take a look at what that means and how to accomplish it.
When you take the time to create a blog post, I'm guessing you'd like people to read it, find value in it, comment on it, share it, subscribe to it, and then return for more. When your readers are responding to your blog in this way, you will be forming a community of people who enjoy your writing and share similar interests.
Whether you are an experienced blogger, or a beginner, there may be some confusion, and even frustration, on how to create a blog community, so let me share some tips with you now.
Keep your promise
As you write your post, think about your reader and write with them in mind. If your title implies you will share 5 ways to teach a dog to walk on a loose leash, then be sure that is what you are teaching in your post. Don't lure them in with the title, and then write about the importance of global warming in the body of the post. This will not promote any good will with your reader.
When you write, you should write the way you speak. This is a great way for the reader to get to know you, and this is certainly our goal. Also use different sized text, different fonts and colors, and many short paragraphs. These will make the post easier to read. Don't forget a related image or two as well for interest.
Provide valuable content
I think this point is so important. You must provide what the reader is looking for, and it must be considered valuable for a return visit or a share. It doesn't have to be earth shattering, and sometimes it doesn't even need to be a wordy post, it just has to have the value that the reader is searching for.
Sit back and relax
As you write your post, think about writing in a way that encourages the reader to make themselves comfortable, grab a hot beverage, put their feet up, and enjoy the post. Also encourage them to check out some of the other posts on your blog by posting some related posts links in the content.
Ask for it
Encourage participation from the reader. Ask them to comment below, share on social media, or subscribe to your blog. This can be done in different ways. You can simply ask in the text, or you can use different plug-ins on your blog. Sometimes if we don't encourage them to engage, they won't, so it's always nice to offer.
These are some simple ways that you can create a blog community for yourself. If you have any questions, or additional ideas, please comment below.
P.S. If you found this valuable, feel free to share it now!
